Gulf Coast Local Events Calendar
Every major annual festival, air show, fishing tournament, and event across all Gulf Coast destinations — with crowd impact ratings and booking lead-time guidance so you can plan around them or plan for them.
Gulf Coast events range from the Pensacola Beach Air Show — which draws 200,000+ spectators and fills every hotel within 30 miles — to the Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival, which brings a quieter, more intimate energy to Perdido Key each November. Knowing what's happening when you visit helps you either lean into the energy of a big event or book around it deliberately. Either way, you'll want to know in advance: the National Shrimp Festival, Mullet Toss weekend, and Air Show week all require booking months ahead.
Booking tips for major events
Pensacola Beach Air Show (July)
The Blue Angels Air Show draws 200,000+ spectators. Beachside accommodations sell out completely, often months in advance. If visiting during Air Show week, book by February at the latest. Parking and shuttle logistics require advance planning.
National Shrimp Festival (October)
Gulf Shores' biggest annual event draws 250,000+ visitors over four days. Hotels within 20 miles of Gulf Shores fill fast once the dates are announced (typically early summer). October is already the Gulf Coast's best weather month — this event pushes demand even higher.
Flora-Bama Mullet Toss (Late April)
The Mullet Toss transforms Perdido Key for a long weekend and raises demand significantly throughout the area. Properties near the Florida/Alabama state line book out earliest. The surrounding weekend also sees elevated rates at Pensacola Beach and Orange Beach.
Hangout Music Festival (May)
A major beachfront festival that brings tens of thousands of visitors to Gulf Shores. Accommodations within the area fill completely during festival dates. If you're not attending the festival, consider staying further out or shifting dates slightly.
Destin Seafood Festival (Late September)
Draws large crowds to Destin Harbor for a free-admission weekend. Destin accommodations fill around the festival dates; book early if your trip overlaps. A great event to build a trip around — late September has excellent weather and the festival is free to attend.
Blue Angels Homecoming Show (November)
The Blue Angels' season-ending show at NAS Pensacola. Smaller-scale than the beach Air Show but still a significant draw for Pensacola. Confirms availability of hotels for what is otherwise a quiet shoulder month — book early if dates align with your trip.
Visiting for a major event? Book your ground transport before accommodations fill.
Able Airport Shuttle offers flat-rate service from Pensacola International to all Gulf Coast destinations. During major events — Air Show week, Shrimp Festival, Mullet Toss — rideshare availability drops and surge pricing spikes. A pre-booked shuttle means one less thing to scramble for when you land.
